About our founder
Howdy! My name is Harry Forbes. I was born and raised in Denver, Colorado to a family with deep roots in New York and New Jersey.
I've been an avid reader for as long as I can remember – thanks, Mom and Dad.
I'm a proud product of Denver Public Schools.
I graduated from East High in 2015, where I was editor-in-chief of the school newspaper and Rugby Colorado Student-Athlete of the Year.
I achieved a 34 on my ACT, (36 in English, 35 in Science), and scored a 5 on numerous AP tests.
I went on to Northwestern University, where I played rugby, read some great books, interned at the Sierra Club in Washington D.C., studied abroad at Peking University and the University of Hong Kong, won a grant to do archival research in France; in my senior year I returned to China to work as an intern for CNN in Beijing. I graduated in 2019 with a bachelor's degree in journalism and honors in political science.
After college, I landed a job in New York with CBS News and worked there for six years. I did a variety of things: producing, reporting; editing; filming; writing; contributing to documentaries and newsmagazines. I left with an Emmy nomination, a National Press Club award, some accolades from national affinity groups, and a whole lot of stories.
In 2026, I moved to Los Angeles to begin an MFA in documentary film at UCLA. My goal over the course of my time in California is to grow as an educator as well as a filmmaker. My ultimate ambition is to sustain a balanced career as a teacher, investigative journalist, and artist.
